| SUMMER TIPS
PRE HOLIDAY
1. Opt for pale pastel coloured nail polishes to accentuate your tan. Coral always looks fabulous with a tan. Or balance bright with nude - if you plump for a bright opaque colour on your hands, balance this with nude or French on your toes. Three week gel manicures (chip-free, glossy varnish for up to three weeks) ensure your nails remain stunning for your holiday and if you opt for a French polish gel nail you can still paint over in colour and then return to your French manicure the next day!
2. Always wait at least 48 hours after waxing before applying self-tanning products, otherwise you will find yourself with an orange dotty tan where the tanning product has been absorbed into the hair follicles.
3. Summer is the time to bare more! Unfortunately skin becomes dry, pale and rough from months of being hidden under winter fabrics and a lack of TLC time! To give your skin a summer boost, pour porridge oats into a pair of old tights, knot at the top and hold under warm tap when running your bath. The milky water is a fabulous cleanser and moisturiser for tired, dull skin. You will step out of your bath feeling like Cleopatra...after all asses' milk worked for her! Not suitable for anyone with nut, wheat or food allergies.
4. Men need to start their summer skin fitness regime now if they haven't already! A rough, tousled look may appear accidental but even the loveable rogues need to start buffing skin and having regular full body exfoliation treatments (with tanning application if needed) to ensure when you bare all it's smooth and nourished skin! And don't forget your Guybrows! Sunglasses may hide a monobrow but when you take them off your eyes still need to be beautifully framed not hidden below unruly, shaggy eyebrows! Cannelle has been offering men's treatments for over 14 years...why has it taken some of you so long??
5. Eyelash extensions are great for holidays. Wake up looking fresh and ready to go every day. You also won't have to worry about panda eyes in the pool. Be careful not to rub oily sun tan lotion into them though as this can weaken the bonds. Make sure adhesive, primer and sealant are applied properly in the salon. This is the key to making the lashes last longer.
6. Worried about cellulite? There are loads of great treatments out at the moment. CACI Endermologie is the anti-cellulite treatment long favoured by many A list celebrities and it really does work wonders. Show of your body with confidence this summer.
DURING HOLIDAY
7. If your skin is prone to spots a small amount of sunshine is a great natural healer of angry skin, but don't forget to apply sun cream or a suitable moisturiser with SPF of at least 15 too.
8. Sweet almond oil is a fabulous cleanser for all skin types...yes even oily skin when used correctly. It's a great way to refresh your skin after a day in the sun. Apply sparingly over dry face in circular motions. Submerge a flannel in hot water, remove excess water and place over the face. This will open pores and cleanse face. When the flannel has cooled wash it out with cold water, and gently remove almond oil from your face. Smooth, cleansed skin in minutes! Not suitable for anyone with nut, wheat or food allergies.
9. Change your skin care routine to suit the climate! If it's humid your skin will need less moisture than at home. Try opting for a lighter moisturiser with an SPF to keep you pores clear and skin feeling great. Be careful to reapply after swimming just as you would sun lotion and remember that it probably won't cut it for extremely sunny climates.
10. Don't forget your feet. Exfoliate and remove calluses. Walk barefoot on the sand. One of the joys of beach holidays and your feet get to enjoy some mild exfoliation while you walk.
POST HOLIDAY
1. Post-holiday, make sure you exfoliate once a week. Even though this seems like it will reduce a lovely tan, in fact regular gentle exfoliation maintains a longer lasting smoother looking tan and will help avoid peeling. Whether your tan is natural or from a bottle exfoliation each week is a must!
2. Continue to drink lots of water. Whenever we go away on holiday we often adopt habits that we haven't time for in a normal week juggling work and family. One of these good habits is drinking lots of water particularly if we are somewhere hot. So on your return make sure you fill a few handy size bottles with water and carry one at all times!
3. Plan your next holiday! After focussing on getting into shape and looking great on the beach, on returning we tend to slip straight back into wondering when we will ever relax and see the sun again. So to keep focussed on a healthy lifestyle, body and mind, book yourself a facial and massage when you get back and get planning next year's holiday. You will have longer to save up and a great reason to keep looking healthy!
